How to Rock your Encore Profile

Encore harpist Katya Herman

Ever wondered what the secret is to getting gigs on Encore? It's two things - writing a killer cover note and having a fantastic profile ready to go. So check out these five easy steps to having a great Encore profile, and keep an eye out for our soon-to-be-released blog on writing a great cover note!

1. Photos

Your profile photo should be a high-quality picture of you and your instrument (unless you're a singer). Make sure your photo is just you (no friends or pets) and should be close enough to see your face clearly. You can feature additional photos on your profile as well.

Need great photos? Email Paula for Encore's recommended photographers.

2. Videos

Videos are the most essential part of an Encore application. You know you're a great player, but the client won't unless you show them. Wedding gigs especially need videos, as brides often want to see if your look fits in with their wedding theme.

In fact, some clients require video and our system will not let you apply for these gigs unless you have a video on your profile.

Equally importantly, Encore's search algorithm prioritises our members with videos, so having videos on your profile will make you appear higher in the search rankings.

Don't have a demo video? Encore can recommend some great producers who will make you a fantastic video. Email Paula for more info.

3. Audio recordings

While videos are preferable for most gigs, great audio is another way to showcase your skills. Just be prepared that many clients will only accept applications from musicians with videos.

Encore supports SoundCloud, Spotify, and direct MP3 uploads.

Encore pianist Naomi Woo has uploaded SoundCloud tracks onto her profile.

4. Biography

Make sure to fill out both the short ("About") and long biography sections of your profile! Don't make it too wordy, but include your most recent and most high-profile gigs, where you studied, and the groups/venues you most commonly perform with/in.

5. Testimonials

Ask your colleagues or clients to send you a testimonial! They can send you a short paragraph and you can input it directly into your profile.

"You were, as ever, absolutely fabulous."
-Emma Duchess of Rutland on Encore singer Zita Tatrai

"Horacio was very helpful, professional and punctual during our process of rehearsing and recording together! I would be happy to work with him again."
-Review of Encore member Horacio López Redondo

"Sabina consistently excels in performing in any genre and is thoroughly professional, as well as having a phenomenal talent for the violin, of course! A fantastic musician and an asset to anyone who hires her."
-Review of Encore member Sabina Virtosu

Creating a unique and compelling online presence is one of the most important ways you can market yourself as a musician. These five tips should get you well on your way to creating an outstanding Encore profile. And once you've filled out your profile completely, you'll unlock the booking form and clients will be able to book you directly!
